1. The European Roulette Wheel Used to Have Two Zeros
According to a description of the European Roulette wheel in a book published in 1796, there were originally 2 zeroes l. It is unclear when this wheel was modified to include one zero only. What we do know is that the original Roulette wheel was adopted by Germans who created a version of the game with 2 zeroes again. This was done to attract new players by offering them a version of Roulette that would provide them with better odds of winning. This made its way to Las Vegas, and today, we know it as American Roulette.
Interestingly enough, despite the initial claims made by whoever re-invented the Roulette wheel with 2 zeroes, this wheel has a higher house edge and a lower Return to Player rate than the European Roulette wheel.
