Roulette
Roulette has been one of the most popular games that have been invented. Casino goers all over the world are in love with the game. The game has been around for several centuries, and it just never seems to lose its popularity.

The exact origins of the game are a big mystery and there are several theories about how it came about. Most people agree that it was created by a French mathematician called Blaise Pascal sometime during the 1600s. You might be wondering why a mathematician was busy making a gambling game. The story goes that he created the roulette wheel when he was attempting to design a perpetual motion machine — so he was doing something relevant to his field. While his attempt at creating something so revolutionary did not bear the fruit he was expecting, he did create something that has stood the test of time.

Roulette has become one of the biggest sensations over the centuries. As with most casino games, there is a considerable degree of luck involved if you want to win at roulette. But that has never stopped people from trying to create strategies and use tricks that “guarantee” their chances of winning the game. You should know that if you see any content on the internet that tells you “foolproof methods to win every time at roulette,” you should disregard them right away.

There is no foolproof strategy to win at roulette every time. There are strategies you can use to improve your odds, but lady luck will decide whether you win at the end of the day. Several of these strategies created by experts have been rejected over the years on account of being baseless. However, there are a few roulette strategies that have become popular because they have been proven to work to a certain extent.

You will find countless posts on different strategies that can help you win at roulette. Today’s post will discuss one of the lesser-known betting strategies called the Street Bet. Before you read any further, this is a betting strategy designed to increase your chances of winning. It is not a guarantee that adopting it will help you win every time.

The Street Bet in Roulette

The street bet is basically an inside bet on three different numbers. The payout on landing a winning number when placing is 11 to 1. The street bet has several names.  It is called the Transversale Plein if you place this bet while playing the French variation of roulette. The bet is also called simply an Inside Bet because you place your chips inside the betting layout on the roulette table. The street bet is also called a line bet or a row bet because you place the bet on three numbers in the same column on the roulette table.

How to Play a Street Bet in Roulette

To make a street bet, you first need to know how to read the betting layout on a roulette table. Each player places bets on the side table, even though all the “action” takes place on the roulette wheel. Do you see all those squares with numbers? That is the layout that represents all the best you can make. The number zone is what matters when you want to make a street bet. The grid with the different numbers on the wheel is called the number zone.

Making a street bet means making three single-digit bets. The numbers should be consecutive and next to each other on the number zone in the betting layout. Placing single-number bets on three consecutive numbers is less risky than placing one single-number bet, hence the 11 to 1 payout. However, the street bet carries more risk than any outside bets.

You place the bets when the betting period starts. If you are in a brick-and-mortar establishment, making a street bet would require placing three chips on the outside line that borders the row of numbers you want to select for the street bet.

Suppose that you want to bet on 19, 20, and 21. In that case, you will place the chips you have decided to wager on the outer line that borders with the number 19 in the betting layout. Now, if the ball lands on any of the three numbers you have wagered on when the wheel stops, you get the chance to win at a massive 11 to 1 payout.

The probability of landing a winning number when placing a street bet is very low. The European roulette variation typically offers you greater overall odds because it has a single zero. American roulette comes with a zero and double-zero on the wheel. The addition of one more number drastically reduces your chances of landing a winning spin.

Suppose that you are playing European roulette and you place a street bet. In that case, your probability of winning the bet is 8.1%. But what if you are playing American roulette?

The additional zero on the wheel in American roulette reduces your probability of winning a street bet from 8.1% to 7.9%. While it might seem like a nominal difference, it is a big enough difference to make you reconsider making such a risky bet when playing American roulette.

The greater house edge in European roulette already makes it more popular among roulette lovers. However, your chances of finding the European variation at brick-and-mortar establishments in the US are significantly lower. If you want to increase your chances with street bets with more favorable probabilities, we suggest sticking to online roulette games. You can find plenty of games with favorable probabilities on different types of bets.
